Don't mess with Texas!

March 14th I begin my maiden voyage to the forbidden land of Texas: where beef still rules the dinner plate, and the gun totin' cowboy is still king. My destination, is the Colorado riverside town of Austin; where I intend to show off my prowess for mustache growing and gunmanship at one of the biggest music industry festivals in north america: South By Southwest.

I'm particularly looking forward to spending time in some of the towns finer saloons, which as I understand it, will be sporting a variety of entertainment from bull ridin' to world renound jug bands. Some of the acts that have caught my eye so far include: Spoon, Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Sarah Harmer, Metric Dashboard Confessional, Damone, The Stills, Sam Roberts, Saves The Day, Grady, Corb Lund, The Hellacopters, and Turbonegro.

I'm a little concerned that the folks in the great state of Texas might laugh at me on account of my funny Canadian accent; so for now I'm shining up my boots, and listening to alot of CCR so people will think I was Born on The Bayou.

Who wants a mustache ride?

Something tells me I might not be getting much action in the bedroom for the next little while; but I'm proud to report that I've refused to shave the dirty smear on my upper lip that I'm currently calling a mustache for the third week in a row! I'll post a picture asap so you know exactly what people who see me on a daily basis are forced to deal with against their will. Unfortunately my weak friend Jeremy Baker gave in to peer pressure and shaved his mustache on Friday; but as far as I know the rest of the crew is still holding strong. Keep up the good work fellas.

Pablo Picasso

I walk past this hostel on my way to work that puts famous quotes up on this little chalkboard everyday. From time to time one catches my eye...

"Only put off till tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone" (Pablo Picasso)
